Russian President Vladimir Putin on Thursday said that Russia's aim is to end the Ukraine war and not to escalate it.

In response to reporters, the Russian President said, “Our goal is not to spin the flywheel of military conflict, but, on the contrary, to end this war. We are striving for this and will continue to strive." Reuters quoted Putin saying, “We will strive for an end to this, and the sooner the better, of course."

Responding on the supply of weapons by US to Ukraine, especially the Patriot air defence system, Putin said that an 'antidote' would be found. He said that 'Patriot' was an old defence system. Reuters quoted him saying, “Patriot was 'quite old' and did not work like Russia's S-300 system. Okay, we will take this into account and an antidote will always be found."

Russia was critical of Ukraine President's recent visit to the US and his address to US Congress. Russian President's spokesperson Dmitry Peskov said that there was no sign of Ukraine was ready for peace talks. Russia alleged the US was fighting a proxy war with Russia.

Addressing US Congress, Zelenskyy said, “Against all doom and gloom scenarios, Ukraine did not fall. Ukraine is alive and kicking. We defeated Russia in the battle for the minds of the world." Talking about US aid to Ukraine Zelenskyy said, "Your money is not charity. It is an investment in the global security and democracy that we handle in the most responsible way."
