Retired astronaut Edwin “Buzz” Aldrin, on his 93rd birthday, married his 'longtime love' Dr Anca Faur. Aldrin was the second person to ever set foot on the moon in 1969, following crewmate Neil Armstrong.
Aldrin announced his nuptials on Twitter.
“On my 93rd birthday & the day I will also be honoured by Living Legends of Aviation I am pleased to announce that my longtime love Dr Anca Faur & I have tied the knot,” Aldrin wrote. “We were joined in holy matrimony in a small private ceremony in Los Angeles & are as excited as eloping teenagers.”
63-year-old Faur has a PhD in chemical engineering. She is the executive vice president of Mr Aldrin's company, Buzz Aldrin Ventures.
Aldrin is one of the only four people to have walked on the moon. In the pictures posted by Aldrin, he can be seen wearing a tuxedo and Faur wearing a long-sleeved glittering dress.
The two astronauts set up an American flag, scooped up moon rocks, and set up scientific experiments before returning to the spacecraft, according to CNN.
