Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be meeting billionaire Elon Musk during his state visit to the US, which begins today. This would be the first Modi will be meeting the Tesla CEO and owner of Twitter since the latter took over the social media platform.
The Prime Minister met Musk in 2015 while he visited a Tesla Motors factory in California. Tesla, in the meantime, is scouting for a location to set up a factory in India. During an interview with The Wall Street Journal, Musk was asked if the automaker was interested in the Indian market. "Absolutely," he replied.
While in the US, Modi is expected to meet about two dozen thought leaders from various fields. These individuals include Nobel laureates, economists, artists, scientists, scholars, entrepreneurs, academics and experts from the health sector.
Besides Musk, Modi will meet astrophysicist and author Neil deGrasse Tyson, Nobel laureate economist Paul Romer, author Nicholas Nassim Taleb and investor Ray Dalio.
Other notable personalities are Falu Shah, Jeff Smith, Michael Froman, Daniel Russel, Elbridge Colby, Peter Agre, Stephen Klasko and Chandrika Tandon, officials said.
Prime Minister Modi is visiting the US from June 21-24 at the invitation of US President Joe Biden and First Lady Jill Biden. They will host Modi at a state dinner on June 22. Modi, who is in the US on invitation from Joe and Jill Biden, will on Wednesday celebrate International Day of Yoga. Joe and Jill Biden will host Modi at a state dinner on June 22. The visit also includes an address to the joint session of the US Congress on June 22.
