Alaska man films himself drowning on a glacial lake with helmet GoPro

Footage from the camera revealed that the 43-year-old had drowned

Alaska State Troopers said a Go Pro camera, that had been found, belonging to a man from Juneau revealed that he drowned after his kayak capsized. The kayak that had nothing but a dry bag was found near Mendenhall Glacier in Alaska.  

The footage from the Go Pro camera helmet revealed that 43-year-old Paul Rodriguez Jr. had drowned, AP reported. In the footage, it seemed like he wasn't wearing proper safety equipment. Rodrigeuz's kayak and camera were found by a Samaritan on July 11.  

Alaska State Troopers found out from the Juneau Police Department that he had been reported missing on July 16. The Juneau police also said that a US Forest Service employee found Rodriquez’s vehicle parked at the visitor centre parking lot. 

Rodriguez is yet to be found. He was reportedly seen walking away from the vehicle carrying an ice axe and helmet on July 11.  

Rodriguez’s son, Jaden Rodriguez, told AP, his father was kind-hearted and enjoyed being outdoors and that he was a gifted photographer.
