Tourists visiting the Eiffel Tower in Paris resumed their tour after a brief break, after French police confirmed that the bomb threat was a “false alarm”.

Visitors were evacuated from the tower and its surroundings as a precautionary measure following a bomb threat. French police and bomb disposal squad combed the premises, including a restaurant located on one of the floors following the threat.

AFP reported that visitors were evacuated from both the three floors and the square under the monument shortly after 1.30pm. However, visitors were allowed back after police confirmed it was a hoax threat. Visitors were allowed back about two hours after officials evacuated it due to a bomb threat, Reuters reported.

The publication quoting a French police source said, “It was a false alarm, people can go back inside."
