Kate Middleton, Princess of Wales made her first public appearance, since her cancer diagnosis, on Saturday at the Trooping the Colour ceremony grand parade marking the official birthday of King Charles III.

The Princess of Wales, Prince William and their children joined King Charles and Queen Camilla on Buckingham Palace's balcony to watch the flypast.

Kate on Friday announced that she would attend the royal birthday celebrations after making progress in her treatment. It was in March, that Kate had announced that she was undergoing chemotherapy after getting diagnosed with cancer.

In a statement, Kate said that she is making good progress after undergoing treatment. "But as anyone going through chemotherapy will know, there are good days and bad days," she said. Kate also added that she has a few more months of treatment.

Kate travelled in a horse-drawn carriage from Buckingham Palace down the grand avenue known as the Mall with her children George, 10, Charlotte, 9, and 6-year-old Louis for the ceremony.

Huge crowds turn out each June to watch the parade, which begins with a procession involving horses, musicians, and hundreds of soldiers in ceremonial uniform from Buckingham Palace.

For the ceremony, Prince William in military dress uniform rode on horseback.

Charles, who also is being treated for an undisclosed form of cancer, travelled in a carriage with Queen Camilla, rather than on horseback as he did last year.

Around 1,400 soldiers, 250 military musicians and more than 200 horses take part in the parade. The equine participants included Trojan, Tennyson, and Vanquish, three of the five military horses.
