Adam Britton, a British crocodile expert, is facing a life sentence of up to 249 years in Australia after it was found that he tortured raped and killed numerous dogs. Britton pleaded guilty to more than 60 charges relating to animal abuse after he was caught by officers based on a tip-off from netizens.

Adam Britton, 53, reportedly used to torture and kill dogs inside a shipping container on his property between 2021 and 2022. At least 30 dogs were tortured and killed during this period by the man, who is a globally known crocodile expert. He managed to keep the unspeakable acts he committed hidden until he was identified by a man who happened to see these acts online. According to British media, Adam Britton shared videos of him abusing canines on Telegram for other abusers to watch.

Media reports said that he used to snatch pet dogs from minors who were outside their homes unattended by elders. These dogs were taken to the shipping container of the accused, where they were sexually abused before being killed. The middle-aged man also confessed to having raped his two pet dogs, both Swiss Shepherds, news reports said.

While sharing videos of abuse of Telegram, once he reportedly jotted, "I had repressed it. In the last few years I let it out again and now I can't stop. I don't want to." After a netizen identified him from the videos, he contacted the local police who in turn raided Britton's house in Darwin. The cops reportedly seized 44 devices from his home and found files of child abuse on his computer.

Born in England's West Yorkshire, Britton completed a degree in zoology from the University of Leeds before getting PhD from the University of Bristol.

The case adjourned pending a psychiatric report and is set to continue on August 8, The Mirror said in a report.
