Over 100 people died in the fresh clashes that erupted in the country

Hundreds of protesters in Bangladesh on Monday looted and vandalised Sheikh Hasina's official residence in Dhaka. Hasina, 76, resigned amid massive anti-government protests across Bangladesh. 

The protests had erupted in Bangladesh demanding an end to the controversial quota system, that reserved 30 per cent of government jobs for war veterans. Later after the Supreme Court scaled back the quota system that sparked the unrest.

Another round of fresh clashes broke out between protesters and the ruling Awami League supporters in Bangladesh on Sunday. Over 100 people died in the clashes. 

Students' movement had announced a non-cooperation movement demanding the PM's resignation to begin from Sunday when the fresh clashes erupted. Protesters demanded Hasina’s resignation. 

A curfew was imposed by the Home Ministry after violent clashes broke out in Dhaka. However, defying the military curfew, hundreds stormed into her official residence 'Ganabhaban'. 

Protesters stole sarees, and utensils from Sheikh Hasina's palace. Disturbing visuals that circulated on social media showed agitators stealing food from her palace as well.

Videos on social media also showed protesters smashing the statue of Hasina's father Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, a 1971 Liberation War hero, in Dhaka. 

Awami League's office in Dhanmondi and Dhaka was set on fire by the protesters. 

Hasina offered to sit for talks on Saturday with the coordinators of the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement. However, the offer was turned down by the coordinators.
