Former Bangladesh IT min Zunaid Ahmed Palak tries to flee to Delhi, detained

Zunaid Ahmed Palak,  Minister for IT in the recently ousted Awami League government in Bangladesh was detained at Dhaka Airport while trying to flee on Tuesday. Reportedly, he was stopped by airport staffers.

Palak was detained at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport on Tuesday while trying to flee to Delhi, Dhaka Tribune reported. Palak was reportedly trying to escape to Delhi and airport staff and workers detained him.

Bangladesh President Mohammed Shahabuddin dissolved the Parliament on Tuesday following an ultimatum from student protesters. After former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina escaped to Delhi on Monday, several ministers and Awami League leaders have been trying to flee from Bangladesh to escape the wrath of protesters. 

Palak is currently under the custody of the Air Force, local reports said. The former minister was infamous for disrupting internet connectivity during protests against the regime. A week ago, Palak met with representatives of TikTok, Meta and Google and directed them to remove "misleading" posts about the protest.
