Barely two weeks after 18 people were killed in Nepal when a plane crashed and caught fire shortly after taking off from the Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu, five people were killed when a chopper crashed in Shivapuri National Park in Nuwakot.
According to Kathmandu Post, four of the deceased are Chinese nationals.
The 9N-AJD chopper belonging to Air Dynasty, and flown by Captain Arun Malla, took off from Kathmandu for Syaprubesi, Rasuwa, the spokesperson of Tribhuvan International Airport said.
The Himalayan Times reported that the chopper lost contact with the tower merely three minutes after the take-off.
Search and rescue operations are underway.
On July 24, Bombardier CRJ-200 aircraft of Saurya Airlines, carrying 19 people, including two crew members and technical staff of the airline, crashed, killing 18 people, including a child.
