An X (formerly Twitter) interaction between a Pakistan-based YouTuber and the video-streaming platform's support team has gone viral on the internet. Harris Sultan, a vlogger from Pakistan raised a concern with YouTube over his channel's name getting changed to an insult by a scammer. In an effort to restore his channel's original name (which got over 220K subscribers as of Friday night), Sultan narrated the ordeal publically for the world to see, attracting some unwanted attention.

According to Harris Sultan, he was in search of cheap labour to assist in content creation and ended up hiring a video editor from India. However, Sultan soon realised that his new employee was up to no good and was looking to scam him. As soon as Sultan terminated his service, the alleged Indian video editor changed the name of the YouTube channel to 'Scumbag Beggar.' To the shock of Sultan, YouTube said he would have to wait for a couple of weeks before the demeaning name could be changed.

Desperate, Sultan decided to call out YouTube on microblogging site X. "I made the mistake of hiring a cheap video editor from India who tried to scam me for money. When I refused, he changed my channel's name to 'Scumbag Beggar.' Now @YouTube is telling me I have to wait 14 days before I can change it back. Really @YouTube?," he jotted tagging the handle of YouTube Creators among others.

YouTube responded positively to the post in the form of a reply "@TheHarrisSultan totally understand your frustration, we’ve sent you a DM with the next steps". The Pakistani-origin man's YouTube channel's name has been restored to “Harris Sultan,” it said.

While he managed to achieve the end he wished for, the incident went viral on the internet, inviting all sorts of reactions from netizens. While many sympathised with him and criticised the other party, whose details were not shared by Sultan, some others were unhappy with the pace at which YouTube resolved the issue. However, there were trolls who did mocked the Pak-based man for his handling of the situation and for sharing the credentials of his channel with an editor whom he knew nothing about.
