After Donald Trump's would-be assassin Ryan Wesley Routh was arrested for allegedly pointing an AK-47 at the former US President on Sunday afternoon, local media reports have revealed his lengthy criminal history since the 1990s.
Routh was arrested from the Trump International Golf Club in West Palm Beach, Florida, after Secret Services fired at him after he was spotted toting his gun, pointed through a perimeter chain-link fence.

Currently living in Hawaii, Routh, 52, is a native of North Carolina. He was arrested several times in North Carolina in the 1990s and 2000s.
Routh's lengthy criminal history
Routh's criminal record includes arrests for drug possession as well as driving without license, vehicle insurance and expired inspection.
In 1998, he was accused of committing an offense in connection with a "worthless cheque". The case was dismissed eventually.
Routh was also ordered by pay large sums of money to plantiffs in civil cases.
However, his most infamous arrest before Sunday's alleged assassination attempt was in 2002 in the Greensboro Police Department limits as per court records from North Carolina. Greensboro News and Record reported that Routh was involved in a standoff after his truck was halted during a traffic stop on December 16, 2002. He had fled from scene after getting hold of a gun. He later barricaded himself in a roofing shop's office for three hours.
Routh was arrested only after a Special Response Team came in. He was charged with possessing a weapon of mass destruction and carrying a concealed weapon.
In 2008, he faced tax lien of nearly $32,000. He moved to Hawaii in 2017, where he established a construction company.
