The Israeli military on Sunday said it killed Nabil Kaouk, another top Hezbollah leader, in a airstrike on Saturday.
This comes a day after Hezbollah secretary-general Hassan Nasrallah was killed in an airstrike on Friday while holding a meeting in the underground headquarters of the group.
Who was Nabil Kaouk?
Nabik Kaouk was the deputy head of Hezbollah's Central Council. He was the group's military commander in southern Lebanon from 1995 to 2010. He was sanctioned by US Treasury Department in 2020.
The Iran-backed Shia group is yet to acknowledge the death of Kaouk. However, reports said his supporters were seen mourning his death.
Earlier, Nasrallah's daughter Zainab Nasrallah, Hezbollah southern front head Ali Karaki, missile unit commander Muhammad Ali Ismail and his deputy Hossein Ahmed Ismail were also killed in IDF strikes.
Meanwhile, Lebanon Information Minister Ziad Makary said that the government is trying to reach a ceasefire deal with Israel through diplomatic channels.
Hashem Safieddine, who is a cousin of Nasrallah, is seen as a potential successor to his seat. He is a key member of Hezbollah Shura Council, is believed to have close links to Iran and its Supreme Leader.
