Is Democratic candidate Kamala Harris losing steam as the US elections are nearing? With just 17 more days before the presidential election, most of the recent polls show that Republican Donald Trump is gaining ‘significant’ momentum.

With both the candidates intensifying their campaigns in the crucial swing states, poll numbers reveal that Harris and Trump are tied in Wisconsin, Michigan, and Pennsylvania.

Since President Joe Biden stepped down from the presidential race, Harris was able to pull some traction within the party and among the people after Trump nearly ‘destroyed’ Biden during the first presidential debate. But as the race is getting tighter, Harris seems to be losing the lead.

As per a report by The Hill, the polling data from the Decision Desk HQ indicated that Harris has lost 4 per cent points over the last month.

A recent NBC News poll also reported a decline in Harris's favourability. Ratings came down to 43 per cent from the earlier 48 per cent. This is significant as Harris dominated the campaigns during its initial phase.

With early voting begun in many cities, the fight is only getting fierce.

In order to generate more enthusiasm for her campaign, Harris turned to celebrities. Detroit rapper Lizzo joined Harris's campaign and urged the people to vote for the right candidate.

"It is crucial in a statement where thin margins can determine elections. This is the swing state of all swing states, so every single last vote here counts,” she said.

Harris appeared with pop singer Usher in Atlanta later.

Meanwhile, in Latrobe, Pennsylvania, Trump escalated his personal attacks on Harris. He said Harris is further to the left than Democratic senators Elizabeth Warren and Bernie Sanders. "You have to tell Kamala Harris that you’ve had enough, that you just can't take it anymore. We can't stand you, you’re a shit vice president."

Harris will need strong results in the majority non-white cities of Detroit and Atlanta and their surrounding suburbs to repeat US President Joe Biden's 2020 wins in Michigan and Georgia.
