The bedroom window of Israel Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's Caesarea house was damaged in last week's drone attack carried out by Lebanese militant group Hezbollah, said Israeli military.
The damage inflicted by the drone was revealed after the image, which was previously barred from publication by the military, was finally revealed on Tuesday.
The image showed a big crack in the window pane, but the drone couldn't penetrate the house, probably due to the reinforced glass and other protections. Pieces of glass reportedly landed in the family’s pool nearby and the yard, according to The Times of Israel.
Netanyahu and his wife were not at home when the drone attack happened. The Prime Minister later accused "agents of Iran" of carrying out the attack, and said the actions will have repercussions.
Though Iran distanced itself from the attack, its proxy Hezbollah took full responsibility for the drone attack.
Meanwhile, reports have emerged stating that Israel’s investigation into the strike has found that Iranian embassy officials in Beirut were also involved in the attack. The report that came in Saudi Al-Hadath News cited unnamed sources.
According to the IDF, three drones were fired from Lebanon, of which two were shot down. The third, however, managed to evade the military's radar. The warning system in Caesarea did not sound.
Though the IDF deployed attack helicopters which can successfully intercept drones to spot the drone, it crashed.
Meanwhile, rocket alarms blared in Tel Aviv and other areas of central and northern Israel on Wednesday, triggering panic and delaying the departure of US Secretary of State Antony Blinken. The top US diplomat was scheduled to land in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. His Jordan visit too had to be rescheduled on Tuesday evening
Rockets fired from Lebanon hit Israel's Haifa area in the Sha’ar Na’aman, inflicting damage to a building. A barrage of some 25 rockets was fired from Lebanon, which activated the sirens in the Krayot and other nearby towns, northeast of Haifa.
The IDF said most of the rockets were intercepted by air defences, and some impacts were identified. Israel also began striking on Wednesday in the historic Lebanese port city of Tyre.
