Hours into the closing of polls, exit polls have revealed crucial information about what is going Republican candidate Donald Trump's way.
Trump, who has a steady start winning the predicted Red states, has managed to break into some women voters, with a CBS exit poll data predicting that he managed to bring down women votes for Harris by three per cent. While Joe Biden won 57% of women votes in 2020, only 54% of women voted for her.
Trump has also managed to gain the support of Latino voters, especially men. However, to the dismay of Trump, his support among white voters had dropped from 57 per cent in 2020 to 49 per cent in 2024.
Trump's support among white voters dropped from 57 per cent in 2020 to 49 per cent in 2024. Among Black voters, Trump saw his support rise from 10 per cent to 14 per cent over the same period.
Meanwhile, one group that isn't supporting Trump is LGBT voters, who is solidly behind Harris this time. Harris leads Trump 86% to 12% among LGBT voters, an NBC poll found. Trump earned 27% of the LGBT vote against Biden last election.
And, those who believe the economy and immigration are major issues voted for Trump while Harris found backers in people who believe democracy and abortion are top issues.
However, giving Trump a clear edge, current exit polls show that nationally, democracy and the economy outrank the issue of abortion. Even women consider abortion a lesser issue than democracy and the economy.
