Donald Trump, who announced his victory in the US Presidential Elections, on Wednesday thanked Americans for bestowing him the honour of being elected as the 47th president of the United States.
Addressing a room full of his supporters who gathered at his Mar-a-Lago residence for his campaign’s watch party, Trump said he would usher in the golden age of America. Trump's speech came despite major networks deciding to wait before announcing his victory.
Here are excerpts from his speech:
1) Trump promised to fix the borders, stating America needs help and it needs help very badly. "We’re going to fix our borders and we’re going to fix everything about our country,” Trump said.
2) Surviving assassination attempt: Trump told his supporters that "God kept him alive for a reason."
3) Thanks Melania: He thanked his wife Melania and his family for supporting him. "I want to also thank my beautiful wife, Melania, First Lady, who has the number one best-selling book in the country. She's done a great job. Works very hard," he said. He also thanked his "amazing children". "Don, Eric, Ivanka, Tiffany, Barron, Laura, Jared, Kimberly, Michael, thank you all. What a help," he said.
4) Calls Elon Musk a star: Trump called Musk an "amazing guy" and thanked him for his support. "We have a new star, a star is born: Elon," Trump told his supporters "He's an amazing guy. We were sitting together tonight. You know, he spent two weeks in Philadelphia, in different parts of Pennsylvania, campaigning. Only Elon can do this," Trump said of watching a recent SpaceX launch. "That's why I love you, Elon," he said.
5) Vice-President J D Vance: Trump called Vance "a good choice". Vance himself praised Trump, stating he pulled off "the greatest political comeback in American history" during the speech.
6) Make America Healthy Again: Trump, who said Robert F Kennedy Jr - the former independent presidential candidate, would have a big role in his administration also mentioned him in the speech.
