The Princess of Wales, Kate Middleton, joined the rest of the British royal family at the annual Festival of Remembrance on Saturday evening, signalling a significant return to her public appearances.

Middleton joined other royals, including King Charles and her husband,  Prince William, in the annual event hosted by the Royal British Legion to honour the nation's servicepersons and remember the ones who lost their lives in the line of duty.

The princess, who recently announced her cancer diagnosis and chemotherapy, arrived in an elegant black dress in her first high-profile event in weeks. Earlier, her husband told the media that the year had been the "hardest" one in his life.

The Royal British Legion Festival of Remembrance occurs every year on the Saturday evening of Remembrance weekend. Earlier last week, William spoke to the media, saying that 2024 has "probably been the hardest year in my life". Middleton, in September, revealed her cancer diagnosis to the world, saying that she will do what she can "to stay cancer-free." However, she is expected to make more public appearances in the coming months.

The 42-year old was subject to abdominal surgery in January and later diagnosed with cancer. Last month, she made a surprise appearance to meet the victims' families of the Southport knife attack.

Kate Middleton, apart from being a major public figure in the UK, is an avid photographer and, quite surprisingly, a beekeeping enthusiast. She occasionally gifts people a jar of homemade honey.
