Even before winning the US presidential election, Republican leader Donald Trump has repeatedly said that he has a ‘peace plan’ that would end the ongoing Russia-Ukraine war.

Reportedly, Trump's peace plan involves British and European troops.

By sweeping all the seven swing states, Donald Trump beat his Democratic rival Kamala Harris in the US presidential election.

Before assuming office in January 2025, Trump had said that he would kickstart the peace talks. Three of his camp's staffers drew an outline to the Ukraine peace plan, The Telegraph reported.

What’s Trump’s master plan?

As per Trump's massive peace plan, ending the Russia-Ukraine war might see him calling on European and British soldiers to put in place an 800-mile buffer zone between Moscow and Kyiv's troops. His staffers noted that this would freeze the front line of the war at present.

Also, the plan would require Kyiv to set aside its NATO ambition for 20 years. In return, America will load up Ukraine's armoury to help the country dissuade Russia from reigniting the war.

Though the US will provide training, it made clear that it will not make any contribution towards troops for patrolling and enforcing the buffer zone. The US will not be providing financial assistance for this.

"We are not sending American men and women to uphold peace in Ukraine. And we are not paying for it. Get the Poles, Germans, British and French to do it," The Wall Street Journal quoted a Trump camp member as saying.

After Trump's election win, both Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Russian President Vladimir Putin congratulated Trump.

Putin on Thursday extended congratulatory greetings to the Republican and said that he was "ready" to hold discussions with him.

"He turned out to be a courageous person. People show who they are in extraordinary circumstances. This is where a person reveals himself," Putin said referring to Trump's Pennsylvania assassination bid.

Meanwhile, Ukraine's Zelenskyy recalled the discussions the two leaders had in-depth to put an end to "Russian aggression against Ukraine". He added that he is hopeful of putting the discussed ways to action in ending the war.
