The Israel Defense Forces nad Hezbollah confirmed that Mohammed Afif, the media releation chief of the Iran-backed militant group, was killed in a strike in the Lebanese capital.

The IDF airstrike hit a building in the Ras al-Naba neighbourhood of Beirut. The building reportedly housed the Arab socialist Baath party's office. 

Who was Mohammed Afif?

Mohammed Afif al-Naboulsi, the Hezbollah media relations chief, had been hosting Hezbollah press conferences during the ongoing conflict with Israel. He also handled Hezbollah-owned Al-Manar TV station before he became its top media official.

He was last seen in the public last Monday when he gave a press conference in Beirut. In October, Afif said, "Our will is firm and our determination is strong. The bombing des not scare us nor the threats."

He came under Israel radar in September following the killing of the group's former secretary general Hassan Nasrallah. Israel said Afif broadcast messages that glorified and incited terrorist activities against Israel and that he launched "psychological terror operations" against the people of Israel.

Israel invaded Lebanon on October 1 a week before the first anniversary of Hamas attack. Over 3,400 people have been killed in Lebanon so far.
