The Bangladesh Foreign Ministry summoned the Indian High Commission in Dhaka on Tuesday over the attack on the Bangladesh mission in Agartala. Pranay Verma met Acting Foreign Secretary Reaz Hamidullah.
Hundreds of people took out a massive rally near Dhaka's mission on Monday against the arrest of Hindu monk Chinmoy Krishna Das. Protesters demanded the immediate release of Krishna Das.
Reportedly, the protesters barged into the Assistant High Commission of Bangladesh and vandalised the place.
The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) termed the attack as "deeply regrettable" and said diplomatic and consular properties should not be targeted under any circumstances.
"The government is taking action to step up security arrangements for the Bangladesh High Commission in New Delhi and their Deputy/Assistant High Commissions in the country," MEA said.

Seven people were arrested and three police officers were also suspended on Monday after the mob attack on Assistant High Commission in Agartala.
Meanwhile, the Bangladesh Foreign Ministry in a statement reminded the Indian government about the Vienna Convention and said it is the responsibility of the host country to protect diplomatic missions and called upon the government to take immediate action to address the incident.

"As it is the responsibility of the host government to protect the diplomatic missions from any form of intrusion or damage, the government of Bangladesh calls upon the government of India to take immediate action to address this incident, to undertake a thorough investigation into the incident and to prevent any further acts of violence against the diplomatic missions of Bangladesh in India, including the safety and security of the diplomats and the non-diplomatic members of staff and members of their families," the foreign ministry had said.
Bangladesh postpones Krishna Das's bail petition hearing to Jan 2
On Tuesday, a Bangladesh court postponed Krishna Das's bail petition hearing to January 2.
Krishna Das was arrested from Dhaka's Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport on November 25 on sedition charges. He was sent to judicial custody on November 26 after bail was denied.
Since Krishna Das's lawyer could not appear on his behalf, Metropolitan Sessions Judge Mohammad Saiful Islam rescheduled the date as the prosecution submitted a time petition.
Krishna Das's arrest has sparked widespread protests across the country. ISKCON members conducted protest rallies in different regions demanding the release of the monk. They also claimed that another two ISKCON priests were arrested for visiting Krishna Das in his prison.
