The Peruvian National Police is at it again! After dressing up as the ruthless dolls from the "Child's Play" series for a Halloween drug bust in 2023, the department decided to dress up as the Grinch for a similar operation ahead of this year's Christmas.

Videos released by the the Peruvian Police showed one of their officers dressed up as Grinch -- the green, furry, pot-bellied, pear-shaped, humanoid -- roaming a neighbourhood before breaking open a door with a sledgehammer for his colleagues to storm. Later, the Grinch is seen bringing out an arrested suspect in the company of a female officer.

The police badge hung from the otherwise bare chest of the Grinch, the cynical protagonist of 'How the Grinch Stole Christmas!'

According to reports, the drug bust ahead of Christmas happened at San Bartolo in Lima. Three suspects were arrested at the scene, all linked to the La Mafia de San Bartolo gang.

"In an ingenious operation, agents of the Green Squad arrested the aliases La Reina del Sur, La Coneja and Pote, alleged members of the La Mafia de San Bartolo gang, dedicated to drug dealing... Various narcotics were seized," a police post on X (formerly Twitter) read.

The video showed, the personnel taking out the outfit from the backseat of a police car. He even puts on a Santa coat and cap before charging into action.  Anti-narcotics operations are a regular affair in Peru, which is the second-largest producer of cocaine behind Colombia. According to figures by the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC), Colombia was responsible for almost two-thirds of the total coca cultivation area in 2022. Peru came in second with 95,000 hectares, while Bolivia ranked third with 30,000 hectares.
