According to Azerbaijan Airlines, the Embraer 190 aircraft, with flight number J2-8243, was forced to make an emergency landing approximately 3 km from the Kazakh city of Aktau. Meanwhile, Russia's aviation watchdog said in a statement that preliminary information suggested the pilot had decided to make an emergency landing after a bird strike.
Unconfirmed reports said there were three minors among the survivors as the plane included 37 Azerbaijan nationals, 16 Russians, six from Kazakhstan and three from Kyrgyzstan. Four bodies have been recovered so far, latest reports said. They confirmed that a part of its fuselage ripped away from the wings and the rest of the aircraft following the crash.
