Western Pennsylvania should brace for heavy snowfall on Monday morning as a significant winter storm inches closer to the state, US media reports said on Sunday. A Winter Storm Warning has been reportedly issued for Fayette, Greene, Washington, Westmoreland, Monongalia, Preston, and Garrett counties while a Winter Weather Advisory will be in effect in Philadelphia till Monday.

Authorities have warned people of Pennsylvania that they should abort all avoidable travel plans in the wake of the snowstorm. In case of emergency journies, residents should pack food, and water in vehicles to deal with emergencies.
The snow will reach Pennsylvania from the south after 10 PM on Sunday and will cover most areas by sunrise, ABC's WTAE network said in a report. Pennsylvania's Pittsburgh city can expect a few inches of snow by Monday morning and can expect some relief from the heavy snowfall by Monday evening, the report added.

January and February are the most active months for snowfall in the Philadelphia area with an average of 7.1 inches and 8.4 inches, respectively, according to the National Weather Service. Temperatures in Philadelphia are forecast to be in the low-30s over the weekend and into next week, about 10 degrees below normal for this time of year, a NWS official was quoted as saying by Yahoo News on Sunday.
Parts of Bristol and Levittown could see 3 to 4 inches of snow, the National Weather Service advisory reportedly said. US media reports claimed that Upper Bucks County could expect some relief when compared to Lower BC regions.
The United States is bracing for the worst as blizzards, heavy snow and freezing rain are expected to affect several states on Sunday and Monday. Some 50 million Americans are predicted to be hit by winter weather advisories throughout the storm formed as a consequence of arctic air from Canada seeps into the United States.
