Power banks for our smartphones and tablets have been in the market for quite a few years now. Wireless power banks, ones that latch onto your phone at the back, are still not as many in the market as their wired sibling. The Stuffcool Lucid Plus is one magsafe-supported 10,000mAh wireless power bank mostly for Apple devices to charge them on the go. Available at Rs 3,499, let's quickly see what it is all about:

The Lucid Plus is a stylish-looking power bank with a half-transparent panel on one side that shows the inner board as well as LEDs to indicate the battery status. The other half (still transparent), houses the magnetic setup to cling onto the device to charge it up. The back side has an aluminium kickstand as well as the Stuffcool branding and the rest all is plain.

Coming to the sides, one side has a USB type-C port for both charging it up or using it as charging source (wired), while the other side has the power button to switch on the charging when it's connected to a device. The power bank weighs close to two smartphones and measures about two smartphones glued to each other when it comes to thickness, so it's portable and not too bulky to carry around.

You get a short USB type-C cable in the box with which you can charge your device at 20watts. And, you can charge an iPhone 12 or later, wirelessly, at 15watts. You can also charge other phones like some Android phones with wireless charging capabilities, but, the powerbank won't stay latched on to them as there's no compatible magnetic pull in their case.

I found the Lucid Plus to charge an iPhone 16 Pro from 1% to 50% in a little over 30 minutes when done wired and 50-60 minutes when done wirelessly. It charged a OnePlus Pad 2 wired from 10% to 35% in half an hour. Importantly, it never turned too warm or made the other device too warm throughout the usage. It can charge wirelessly at 5watts, 7.5watts, 10watts and 15watts max, depending on the device getting charged. It could charge the iPhone 16 twice in full on a single charge with its last LED bit still on. I could also charge the Pixel 9 Pro XL wirelessly, but, since it doesn't stick on to both unless kept idle, it wasn't quite comparable, but wired, it could charge the Pixel from 55% to 95% in 45 minutes.

The powerbank itself takes a little over four hours to charge fully using a fast charger (supports 18watts input). Again, it didn't become too hot while getting charged.

For an iPhone 16 Pro, the Lucid Plus stuck onto it and didn't fall or require any adjustment once attached. It is slim enough to be carried around in hand when attached to an iPhone but may not be pocketable for some.

One nice little feature it has, owing to that kickstand, is that it supports iOS's standby mode. So, for an iPhone running iOS 17 or later, if you keep the powerbank in horizontal position against its kickstand and attach your iPhone to it in the same position, it turns on the 'Standby Mode' on the iPhone – to preview time, calendar or maybe your photos, whatever you prefer (you can swipe when in standby mode to change between these). So, it charges and becomes a bedside accessory too.

All in all, the Stuffcool Lucid Plus is a unique looking powerbank that does its wireless charging job well without any heating issues, while also offering wired charging as well as a nifty feature like standby mode for your personal use.
