What do you think about Jyotiraditya Scindia’s decision to join the BJP?
We welcome it. He has his strengths and has leadership qualities, so we welcome it. He was the only one who was out. Now the family is complete.
Do you think the BJP is poised to form government in Madhya Pradesh again?
I think so. We have already got 22 resignations from the Congress party. I do not want to say anything further, but yes, we are very hopeful.
The BJP named Jyotiraditya for Rajya Sabha shortly after joining the party.
I think that it is the right decision. Because in the end when a leader comes forward and takes such a big bold step, you just cannot wish him away once he enters the party. He has to be established and place has to be made for him.
We are also hearing about a cabinet berth for him.
That will be the prime minister’s decision entirely. The prime minister is a genius, so he will know exactly what to do.
Does a comeback of the BJP bode well for the people of Madhya Pradesh?
Of course. I was in the Shivraj [Singh Chouhan] cabinet for five years and I saw a lot of things being done on the ground level. And, even for my ministry, I was very happy with the work we were doing. So, I look forward to supporting the BJP government in whatever way I can.
