As part of its plans to augment the coverage of the Middle East, an area of immense importance for India in terms of energy security, trade, commerce, geopolitics and people-to-people contact, THE WEEK has launched a section dedicated to the region on its website.

With this, THE WEEK is coming close to the readers of the Middle East, covering vibrant events from the region. It will feature major news from Middle Eastern countries, developments in the Gulf region, India’s ties with Middle Eastern nations and also updates on tourism, health, education and other key sectors. The new section is named “Yello Middle East”, combining the Arabic expression “Yalla” (meaning let’s go) and “Hello”.

The new section was inaugurated by the UAE Minister of State for International Cooperation Reem Al-Hashimy at Dubai’s prestigious Expo City on January 7. Al-Hashimy said India-UAE cooperation would continue to grow.

This is the closest India and the UAE have ever been, and the bond is solid and respectful, she said. The minister also received THE WEEK issue dated January 5, which highlights the history and special features of the India-UAE partnership, from THE WEEK Chief Associate Editor and Director Riyad Mathew.

THE WEEK has returned to the UAE after a hiatus, and the magazine will now be available at major newsstands. Seminars and joint initiatives focused on India-UAE cooperation are being planned under THE WEEK’s leadership.
