Why?

It is an effort to curtail porn addiction among teenagers and adolescents. The government hope young minds can be shielded from adult content through the introduction of the porn passports. | Shutterstock

What?

The initiative comes within the Spanish government's Digital Wallet app, officially called the Digital Wallet Beta (Cartera Digital Beta). | Shutterstock

A gate-keeping app?

It is essentially an app that ensures Spaniards accessing porn online are all/only adults. | Shutterstock

How?

The app will enable internet platforms to confirm consumers of pornography are not minors. | Shutterstock

Understanding Porn Passport's job:

Once introduced, users will need to confirm their age in the app. Once verified, they will be granted "porn credits," which will allow them to access pron content for a month. | Shutterstock

Understanding Porn Passport's job:

Each credit will generate a QR code. When a user enters the address of a porn site, he/she will be required to connects to the Digital Wallet. The wallet will verify the user’s age without revealing any other personal information. | Shutterstock

The golden question:

Yes. The anonymity of the users is protected.

Unlimited:

There is no limit on the number of tokens that can be generated each month and users can renew their tokens or porn credits as often as they like, Economic Times said in a report.

Rechargeable?

Of course. Once a Spaniard runs out of tokens, he/she will receive alerts to renew their "passport."

How will the app verify users' age?

Through government-issued IDs.

Then how is privacy guaranteed?
