Who are the poorest chief ministers of India?

On December 30, the Association of Democratic Reforms (ADR) published a report on the analysis of the current chief ministers from 28 State Assemblies and 3 Union Territories of India. The report includes the financial standings of the CMs, including the ministers with the weakest assets. Take a look at a few:

Mamata Banerjee

Banerjee made history by becoming the first woman to hold the office in West Bengal. Currently serving her third term, the founder of the All India Trinamool Congress party, according to the ADR report, is the poorest CM in India, with assets worth Rs 15 lakh

Omar Abdullah

Jammu and Kashmir CM Omar Abdullah – also the current vice president of the Jammu and Kashmir National Conference – is currently serving his second term. With assets valued up to Rs 55 lakh, Abdullah is the second-poorest CM after Banerjee

Pinarayi Vijayan

The oldest CM in India at age 79, Vijayan, hailing from Kerala, is a member of the Communist Party of India (Marxist). Though his financial assets portray him as the third-poorest, it is worth over Rs 1 crore, a sharp rise from the bottom two

Atishi Marlena

Marlena is the youngest serving chief minister of India at age 43. A member of the Aam Aadmi Party, the Delhi CM has Rs 1.41 crore worth of assets under her name

Bhajan Lal Sharma

A member of the Bharatiya Janata Party, the Chief Minister of Rajasthan’s assets are valued only a little higher than Marlena’s, currently standing at Rs 1.46 crore
