Top psychological thriller shows on OTT

When it comes to psychological thrillers, the list is endless, and it's difficult to pick just a handful. Some of the best titles in the genre have elements of horror and sci-fi. Following is a list of series recommendations streaming across platforms.

Mindhunter (Netflix)

With outstanding directing work from crime genre veterans David Fincher, Carl Franklin, and Andrew Dominik, who directed most of the episodes, the true-crime story achieved instant classic status in the minds of its fans.

The Fall of the House of Usher (Netflix)

Mike Flanagan's work in psychological horror, in the long-form storytelling format, is enviable, and this limited series, based on multiple stories of Edgar Allan Poe, is bolstered by top-notch performances, dialogues and production design.

El Inocente (The Innocent) (Netflix)

Oriol Paulo, the Spanish master of suspense known for films such as The Body, The Invisible Guest, and Mirage demonstrated his best work in this high-octane series based on Harlan Coben's book.

The Outsider (JioHotstar)

This adaptation of horror master Stephen King's book of the same name follows a murder investigation that goes into some very terrifying, nightmare-inducing corners. Just try imagining yourself in the same situation.

Dark (Netflix)

We've heard of that joke about keeping a book and pen nearby when watching this incredibly mindbending time-travel series that generates some of the wildest twists in the history of fiction. Suffice to say, put your phones away!

Midnight Mass (Netflix)

Another Mike Flanagan masterwork that discusses religion and questions faith in the manner of William Friedkin's The Exorcist and M Night Shyamalan's Signs. The less you read about it beforehand, the better.

Ripley (Netflix)

Arguably the best adaptation of Patricia Highsmith's The Talented Mr Ripley that is dripping with class from its first frame to last, with complex characters, stunning locations, and Robert Elswit's gorgeous black-and-white photography.

Fargo (Seasons 1-3) (Prime Video)

It's not every day you see a filmmaker not named Ethan or Joel Coen accurately recreating the vibe of the Coens' 1996 classic. The first three seasons, each with a different story, demonstrate crime writing of the highest caliber.
