The 2024 Formula 1 season has been dubbed one of the most remarkable seasons in its history. In an epic conclusion in Abu Dhabi's Yas Marina Circuit, on December 8, McLaren clenched the Constructors' Championship trophy for the first time in the 21st century
Breaking their 26 year win-less streak, McLaren driver Lando Norris secured a dominant first place at the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, followed by both Ferrari drivers, Carlos Sainz Jr. and Charles Leclerc, in second and third place, respectively
Ferrari lost out on the Championship by a fourteen point difference (McLaren – 666, Ferrari – 652)
The race also witnessed the last time 7-time World Champion Lewis Hamilton drove for Mercedes, ending one of the most successful driver-team partnerships in F1 history, spanning 12 years
Hamilton will join Ferrari and Leclerc for the 2025 season, replacing Sainz
Sainz will make his move to Williams after a successful 4-year partnership with Ferrari
Red Bull's Max Verstappen was named World Champion at the end of the Las Vegas Grand Prix last month, retaining the title for the fourth time in a row
This season witnessed seven first place wins from four different team, which is a stark difference from the 2023 season which only saw three wins – from Verstappen and Sergio Perez in Red Bull, and Sainz in Ferrari
Drivers indefinitely leaving Formula 1 include Sauber teammates Valtteri Bottas and Zhou Guanyu, Haas' Kevin Maggnusen, RB's Liam Lawson (who replaced Daniel Riccardio mid-season), and Williams' Franco Colapinto (who replaced Logan Sargeant mid-season)
