The Ozone Run is much more than a race—it is a movement designed to promote public awareness about the depletion of the ozone layer, environmental degradation, and the urgent need for collective action. Every year, the run coincides with World Ozone Day, observed globally to highlight the importance of the ozone layer in protecting life on Earth.
The 2024 edition of the Ozone Run took place on 15th September at Gachibowli Stadium and featured three run categories:
2K Walk/Run: A family-friendly walk focused on encouraging inclusivity and active participation in environmental advocacy.
5K Run: Aimed at casual runners who want to promote awareness through physical activity.
10K Timed Run: A professionally timed run that attracted both competitive runners and fitness enthusiasts, with top finishers receiving special awards.
Each category attracted participants from various age groups, reinforcing the idea that everyone has a role to play in protecting the environment, regardless of age or fitness level.
