Go Dharmic’s First Diwali Gala in Westminster A Grand Success

Go Dharmic marked a historic milestone on Wednesday, 23rd October 2024, by hosting the first-ever Diwali Gala at Westminster. The event brought together a distinguished gathering of guests to celebrate the spirit of Diwali with the theme ‘Be The Light’, emphasising a powerful message of peace, compassion, and non-violence toward all living beings. Among the esteemed attendees were Baroness Sandip Verma, Shivani Raja MP, Ed Winters and Heather Mills, who each highlighted the vital mission of Go Dharmic to foster a world where everyone can coexist harmoniously with nature.

The highlight of the event was the inspiring launch of the book “Ahimsa: Making Peace with Nature,” a transformative work edited by Hanuman Dass, founder of Go Dharmic. The book features insights from global prominent voices and climate advocates, including Dr. Nicholas Sutton, Maneka Gandhi, Krishna Das, Dr. Iyad Abumoghli, Sadhguru, and Ela Gandhi among others. The book explores how the ancient and universal principle of Ahimsa, or non-harming, can reshape humanity’s relationship with nature.

In his opening address, Hanuman Dass articulated Go Dharmic’s vision: “Our mission is to bring light to the world through compassion and positive action. Just as Diwali symbolizes the victory of light over darkness, we encourage everyone to 'Be the Light.' This festival serves as a reminder of the power of kindness, generosity, and peace—values we strive to embody in all our endeavors.”

Baroness Sandip Verma, a notable guest, expressed her views on her engagement with the event.

“It was incredible to join Go Dharmic at their wonderful Diwali Gala dinner in Westminster's iconic Central Hall. Being surrounded by people who shared a common mission to see a world filled with compassion and love. These inspiring young people at the heart of Go Dharmic are truly remarkable. They are creating a legacy of peace and sustainability across the world,” shared Baroness Sandip Verma

Heather Mills and Ed Winters delivered heartfelt speeches emphasizing the alignment of human values with environmental action, highlighting collective compassion as a pathway to sustainable living and universal social flourishing.

During the book launch, Hanuman Dass echoed the words of Mahatma Gandhi, stating, “This book is a call to action. Non-violence is the greatest force at the disposal of mankind; it is mightier than the mightiest weapon of destruction. In these times of environmental crisis, we must be the force that protects, heals, and preserves our planet.”

The Westminster Diwali Gala 2024 was a resounding success, raising substantial funds to support meaningful initiatives. The atmosphere was filled with laughter, camaraderie, and engaging entertainment, featuring performances by Bhavik Haria, the popular London busker Vish, and the talented Sameeksha Meda, who contributed to an enjoyable evening.
