Kolkata, November 28th – Go Dharmic celebrates the achievement of the Dharma Forest Initiative being honored with the prestigious Climate Action Championship Award at a special event hosted by the British Deputy High Commission in Kolkata. This recognition demonstrates Go Dharmic’s unwavering dedication to combating climate change and restoring the Sundarbans' mangrove forests, home to the Bengal Tiger.

Scoring an outstanding 90 out of 100 points, Go Dharmic’s efforts were celebrated for their profound impact on reforestation and biodiversity restoration in one of the world’s most vulnerable ecosystems. The award presentation featured Bhishma Dass (Debabrata Mondal) introducing the Dharma Forest Initiative to an esteemed audience, including Kevin Goh, Deputy Consul of the Australian High Commission, and Andrew Fleming, Deputy High Commissioner of the British High Commission.

The Sundarbans has theworlds's largest mangrove forest and is known for the critical role in protecting West Bengal and critical biodiversity which in recent years have been battered by devastating floods and cyclones in recent decades. Between 2013 and 2017 alone, these floods claimed over 1,000 lives and caused immense economic losses.

Hanuman Dass, Founder of Go Dharmic, envisioned the Dharma Forest Initiative to restore mangrove ecosystems, safeguarding both human and wildlife communities while contributing to the global fight against climate change.

Since its inception, the Dharma Forest has planted an impressive 250,000 mangrove trees, with a goal of reaching 2 million trees by 2026. This ambitious initiative aims to shield coastal communities from future floods, enhance biodiversity, and rebuild natural resilience for generations to come.

"This award belongs to the women who lead the Dharma Forest Initiative," said Hanuman Dass. "Their tireless work in planting and nurturing mangroves demonstrates the power of community-driven action in restoring balance to our environment."

The Dharma Forest Initiative is more than a reforestation project—it is a promise of hope and resilience. Every tree planted is a step toward rebuilding what was lost and fostering harmony with nature.
