CBI books BECIL general manager others for corruption

New Delhi, Apr 27 (PTI) The CBI has registered an FIR against Broadcast Engineering Consultants India Limited general manager Ramit Lala, consultant Monica Dhawan and others for alleged corruption in social media and website-related works of different ministries, officials said on Thursday.
Broadcast Engineering Consultants India Limited (BECIL) is a public sector enterprise under the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting and provides project consultancy services and turnkey solutions of radio and television broadcast engineering by subletting jobs to private contractors and consultants, according to the FIR.
The CBI received information that Dhawan, the founder of Fusion Corporate Solutions Private Limited, along with her sister Charu Khanna, who is the business head, and her father J M P Khanna, who is a director in the company, allegedly pursued Lala for clearing bills of already executed works and awarding various tenders of different ministries and government departments that were floated by BECIL.
The agency also received information that Khanna not only assisted Dhawan in managing business affairs but also in negotiating for bribe money with public servants and in payment of the demanded bribe, the FIR alleged.
The FIR alleged that they worked together to obtain favours in awarding work orders and tenders and expediting clearance of pending bills of their company by bribing officials, including Lala.
According to the FIR, Dhawan recently approached Lala to ensure that her company gets the order related to the Ministry of Jal Shakti and the Ministry of Tourism, urging him to help her in getting these works in the same manner as he had helped her in getting the work of the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs.
