Goa Raj Bhavan to launch five books published under ‘Nayi Pahal’ scheme on May 29

Panaji, May 27 (PTI) Goa Governor P S Sreedharan Pillai on Saturday announced that five books published under the Raj Bhavan's book sponsoring scheme ‘Nayi Pahal’ will be released on May 29.
The books in Konkani, Marathi and English will be unveiled in the presence of Jnanpith Award winner Goan writer Damodar Mauzo, the governor said.
The books are by authors Sanjay Ramesh Salelkar (Konkani), Pallavi Polekar (Marathi), Advocate Manohar Adpaikar (Marathi) and two books by Pachu Menon in English, he said.
Pillai said the Raj Bhavan had in February declared an innovative scheme for new writers, under which it would sponsor the cost of printing and publishing their books in Konkani, Marathi, Hindi and Sanskrit, and later English was also included in the scheme.
The books could be fiction, non-fiction, poems, autobiography or anthology of stories, he said.
The Raj Bhavan may not be involved in the sale process of a book, but it will help new writers to come up and prove their creative talent in literature, he said.
“At present, in the literary world, the road to reward and recognition is always a hard struggle, especially for people from weaker sections of the society,” the governor said.
