Pune, Jul 20 (PTI) NCP (SP) chief Sharad Pawar stood up when he came face to face with his estranged nephew and Maharashtra deputy chief minister Ajit Pawar at an official meeting here on Saturday.

The NCP (SP)'s Baramati MP Supriya Sule, however, claimed that while her father followed protocol by standing up, the deputy CM objected when he asked questions about the disbursal of development funds.
Sharad Pawar, 83, attended a meeting of the District Planning and Development Council (DPDC) here in his capacity as a Rajya Sabha member.

As soon as Ajit Pawar, who was to chair the meeting as guardian minister of the district, walked in, the senior Pawar rose to his feet like other participants did.
"He stood up to follow protocol, and this is what all political workers should take inspiration from," Sule said at her party's rally in Pimpri Chinchwad later in the evening.
Ajit led a rebellion against his uncle last year and split the NCP to join the Shiv Sena-BJP government in Maharashtra.
Speaking at the rally, Sule further said that Sharad Pawar asked for information about tehsil-wise distribution of development funds during the DPDC meeting, and the collector said he would get the necessary information.
But Ajit Pawar cited a Government Resolution (order) and said MPs and MLAs can not ask questions about fund disbursal or vote during these meeting as they are only invitees, Sule claimed.
"This is what we have been saying, the ruling party wants to bring dictatorship and change the Constitution. I have that GR, which says invitees can ask questions and put forth their views in the DPDC meeting....We can ask questions," she added.
The government wants to suppress dissenting voices and talk about a fake narrative being spread, but a BJP MP had said that the Constitution will be changed after his party got more than 400 seats in the Lok Sabha, Sule said. "This was no fake narrative," she added.
