Rains bring mercury down by 5 notches maximum temperature recorded at 29.6 deg C

New Delhi, Sep 18 (PTI) Rains in Delhi on Wednesday brought down the mercury by five notches below the normal of the season as the maximum temperature was recorded at 29.6 degrees Celsius.
     Moderate intensity rains lashed many parts of the national capital with the city put under a yellow alert by the India Meteorological Department (IMD).
     Several areas, including Civil Lines, Dilshad Garden, Seemapuri, Kashmiri Gate, Seelampur, Shahdara, Red Fort, Preet Vihar, Rajiv Chowk, ITO, India Gate, Akshardham, Lajpat Nagar, Kalkaji, Tughlakabad and East of Kailash received rainfall.
     An overcast sky was witnessed during the day and thunderstorm and gusty winds experienced in some areas.
     The humidity level stood at 100 per cent at 5.30 pm.
     The minimum temperature was recorded at 25.1 degrees Celsius in the morning.
     As per the weather department, the rains are likely to continue on Thursday with the minimum temperature expected to be recorded at 23 degrees Celsius and the maximum temperature around 33 degrees Celsius.
