     Lucknow, Sep 20 (PTI) A suspect in the Sultanpur jewellery store robbery case was injured in an encounter with the Uttar Pradesh Police on Friday, a senior police official said.
     In the encounter carried out by the Special Task Force (STF) in association with the local police, the suspect Ajay Yadav alias DM (21), who was carrying a reward of Rs one lakh on his head, was injured, Additional Director General, STF and ADG Law and Order Amitabh Yash said in a statement.
     Silver jewellery, money, illegal arms and cartridges were recovered from the possession of the accused, he said.
     Five men had looted jewellery worth Rs 1.5 crore at gunpoint from the jewellery shop in Thateri Bazaar on August 28.
     Of the 15 accused, three identified as Sachin Singh, Pushpendra Singh, and Tribhuvan were held while Mangesh Yadav, a wanted criminal, was killed in an encounter with the STF on September 5. Later, Vipin surrendered in court.
     The police on September 11 had arrested Durgesh Pratap Singh, Vinay Shukla, Arvind Yadav alias Fauji and Vivek Singh.
     Superintendent of Police Somen Barma on Friday said, "The team searching for the wanted accused in the robbery was informed by an informer today that two suspicious people are going on a motorcycle towards a Moili Gram Sabha in Jaisinghpur police station area."
     "When the police team tried to surround and catch them, the suspects opened fire at them. One of them got shot in the leg in retaliatory firing while the other person fled, taking advantage of the darkness," Barma said.
     The police took the arrested criminal to Jaisinghpur community health centre, from where the doctors referred him to Government Medical College in Sultanpur.
     According to police, five cases are registered against Ajay Yadav.
     The SP also said that efforts are on to nab the rest of the accused.
