Woman gets stuck in flyover pillar in Noida rescued

Noida, Sep 21 (PTI) A woman got stuck on the pier -- some 35 ft above the road -- where she fell after her scooter lost control on a flyover here and hit a divider on Saturday, officials said.
Two people who went down to help the woman also got stuck there. They were later rescued as the local police and the fire bridge personnel rushed to the spot, they said.
The incident happened at 12.45 pm when the woman along with her friend was travelling from Sector 18 to their home in Ghaziabad on a two-wheeler, they said.
"Upon reaching the elevated bridge near Mangla Bazaar, Sector 20, the driver of a WagonR car signalled and turned right, about 10 to 15 feet ahead. As a result, the scooter driver lost control and collided with the divider,” a police official said.
“The female passenger fell into an empty space on the pillar after hitting the divider," the official said.
Two people went down to help the woman but they also got stuck there, Noida Additional DCP Manish Kumar Mishra said.
When alerted about the incident, the police from the local Sector 20 station arrived at the scene with ACP Noida Praveen Singh along with rescue teams and specialists from the fire safety department, the official said.
The fire brigade team rescued the woman trapped on the pillar, along with two other individuals, and they were taken to a hospital, the official added.
A senior official said the car involved in the incident has been impounded and the matter is being probed further.
If the car driver is found violating any laws, action would be ensured against him, the officer added.
