Important cases heard in the Delhi High Court on Monday, October 7:
* HC will hear on November 25 the bail plea of former JNU student Umar Khalid and student activist Sharjeel Imam in a UAPA case related to the alleged larger conspiracy behind the communal riots here in February 2020.
* HC was informed by civic authorities that the rights of persons offering prayers at the Shahi Idgah Park at Sadar Bazar here would not be endangered by the installation of freedom fighter Maharani Lakshmi Bai's statue.
* HC was informed that fintech firm BharatPe, its former co-founder Ashneer Grover and his wife Madhuri Jain Grover have settled their disputes in a case of an alleged Rs 81 crore fraud.
* The CBI informed the HC that its investigation against statutory officials, including from the MCD, DJB and fire department, is in progress in connection with the death of three IAS aspirants at the basement of a coaching centre in July.
* A plea came up for hearing in the HC seeking a court monitored CBI investigation into the instances of alleged quid pro quo and corruption in donations made through electoral bonds by individuals or companies to various political parties.
* Bootlegging and illegal sale of liquor is a big menace to the society, which needs to be curbed with a heavy hand, the HC has said.
