'Progressive parties' to hold convention in Nashik to discuss strategies for assembly polls

Thane, Oct 14 (PTI) Ahead of the Maharashtra assembly polls, "progressive parties" in the state will hold a convention in Nashik on Wednesday to strengthen their strategies for the elections, CPI(M) polit bureau member Dr Ashok Dhawale said on Monday.
The representatives of various parties like the Peasants and Workers Party, Samajwadi Party, Communist Party of India, Communist Party of India (Marxist) and Satyashodhak Community Party will attend the state-level convention, he said.
The decision was reached in a meeting held on Sunday at the CPI office in Mumbai where leaders from various parties came together to discuss their strategies ahead of the assembly polls, expected to be held next month, he said.

The convention aims to galvanise support and unify "anti-BJP" sentiments across the state, Dhawale said.
Leaders plan to emphasise the necessity of formulating alternative pro-people policies and adopting an inclusive approach to seat adjustments among all progressive factions under the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA-INDIA bloc), he added.
