Indore, Nov 9 (PTI) Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav on Saturday tried his hand at swordsmanship at an event here where hundreds of women demonstrated their mastery of the traditional art of sword-fighting.
Besides Yadav, Union Minister of State for Women and Child Development Savitri Thakur and former MP Jaya Prada attended `Shaurya Veera' event at Nehru Stadium, organised by Anmol Muskaan Welfare Society.
"Women in Indore today have demonstrated their extraordinary skills with swords. We will never forget this demonstration of women's valour," CM Yadav said, announcing a reward of Rs 5 lakh as encouragement for the organisers.
Kamal Yadav, a member of the organising committee, claimed that about 5,000 sari-clad women participated in the demonstrations.
At the function, CM Yadav also transferred Rs 1,573 crore in the bank accounts of 1.29 crore women as the monthly instalment of the Ladli Behna Yojana.
Under the scheme, eligible women are paid Rs 1,250 per month.
