Chandigarh, Jan 12 (PTI) Rain lashed several places in Punjab and Haryana early Sunday morning, while cold weather conditions continued to persist in both states, the IMD said.
Chandigarh, the common capital of both states, recorded 18.4 mm of rainfall, according to a report by the India Meteorological Department (IMD).
In Punjab, rainfall was reported in places including Amritsar (5 mm), Ludhiana (11 mm), Patiala (6.5 mm), Pathankot (3 mm), Bathinda (31 mm), and Faridkot (20.6 mm).
In Haryana, rainfall was recorded in places such as Ambala (20.5 mm), Hisar (13 mm), Karnal (1.6 mm), Narnaul (14 mm), Rohtak (3 mm), Bhiwani (6 mm), and Sirsa (3.2 mm).
Gurdaspur was the coldest place in Punjab, with a minimum temperature of 5 degrees Celsius.
Meanwhile, Amritsar recorded a low of 10.8 degrees Celsius, while the temperature in Ludhiana settled at 10.4 degrees, Patiala and Pathankot both shivered at 10.1 degrees.
The temperature in Bathinda settled at 7.2 degrees and Faridkot at 9.5 degrees Celsius.
Chandigarh recorded a minimum of 11 degrees Celsius, which is four notches above normal.
In Haryana, Ambala recorded a minimum temperature of 11 degrees, 4.5 degrees above normal.
The temperature in Hisar settled at 9.5 degrees Celsius, Karnal at 11.4 degrees Celsius, Narnaul at 6.8 degrees, Rohtak at 8.8 degrees, Bhiwani at 9 degrees and Sirsa at 9.5 degrees Celsius.
Average minimum temperatures were above normal by 3.6 degrees in Haryana and 4.6 degrees Celsius in Punjab.
