Gold cash valued at around Rs 90 cr seized from Ahmedabad flat by ATS and DRI

Ahmedabad, Mar 17 (PTI) More than 95 kilograms of gold and cash cumulatively valued at around Rs 90 crore were seized from a residential flat in Ahmedabad in Gujarat following a raid by the state's Anti Terrorist Squad (ATS) and Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) on Monday evening, an official said.
"Around 95.5 kg gold, other jewellery, and up to Rs 60-70 lakh in case were seized from a flat at Avishkar Apartment located in Paldi area. Accused Megh Shah and his father Mahendra Shah had allegedly hid smuggled gold and cash worth around Rs 80-90 crore in the flat. Calculation was underway to determine their exact value," ATS Assistant Commissioner of Police SL Chaudhary said.
The accused, who are allegedly involved in various activities such as share market trading, betting and gold smuggling, are yet to be nabbed, he said.
"The flat was locked when the raid was conducted jointly by the DRI and ATS this evening. Further probe is underway," Chaudhary said.
