New Delhi, Mar 21 (PTI) A 51-year-old man was charred to death when a fire broke out on the third floor of a building in central Delhi early Friday morning, officials said.
    Parveen Sachdeva, a divorcee, died in the fire that broke out in Baljeet Nagar area, they said.
    Sachdeva owned a small motor parts manufacturing factory in the Wazirpur area, which was reportedly non-functional, a police officer said.
    A call regarding the fire at a home was received at Patel Nagar police station around 5.16 am on Friday, the officer said.
    Three fire tenders were pressed into service upon receiving information around 5.16 am at Patel Nagar police station regarding a fire at a house, a Delhi Fire Services official said.
    "After much effort by fire personnel and police, the blaze was brought under control. Firefighters found a charred body, later identified as Parveen Sachdeva, who had sustained severe burn injuries," he said.
    "He was shifted to a hospital, where doctors declared him brought dead," the official said.
    Forensic teams processed the scene, and a report regarding the exact cause of the fire is awaited, he added.
    The official said household items in the house had caught fire, though the precise reason behind the blaze is yet to be determined.
