At the stroke of midnight, India will usher in the country's biggest tax reform—the Goods and Services Tax regime. A special midnight session of Parliament will roll out the historic GST on July 1. According to reports, a loud gong will be sounded to mark the arrival of the tax regime. The grand event will be attended by all the senior leaders in the country along with Prime Minister Narendra Modi and President Pranab Mukherjee.
With the huge tax reform at our doorsteps, most Indians are still confused about how the various tax slabs work and how life will be affected. Be it traders or consumers, most of them are still in their own stage of bafflement. That is probably why people have been taking to social media to clear doubts, and even crack jokes about it.
As the GST rolls out at midnight, the jokes will keep coming.
