Sanjay Dutt's new biopic, directed by Rajkumar Hirani, will release on June 29, 2018. Hirani tweeted the same on Friday. This could be one of the most awaited releases this year, given that the first look posters had revealed a Ranbir Kapoor who was the spitting image of the Agneepath actor, a man who had courted controversy on multiple occasions.

Ranbir has proven more than once that he is an artist who cannot be pigeonholed. From his initial chocolate boy roles, Ranbir has portrayed a volatile, heartbroken musician in Imtiaz Ali’s Rockstar, a hearing and speech impaired man in Anurag Basu's Barfi!.
The Jagga Jasoos star had also shared that he has been a huge admirer of Dutt and feels really fortunate that he knows the superstar personally.
"It is his first release after his release. And like Raju sir said, we all have missed you (Dutt) so much and when we see you on screen it is magical. Something happens deep within. Like all of us here, I have been a huge admirer of Sanju sir," noted Kapoor.
"I have had the good fortune of knowing you as a person and I have interacted with you since I was a child. So I know your heart. And I am really happy and welcome back to the movies. We all missed you a lot," he said.
When Kapoor was asked about Dutt, the actor revealed, "I know Sanju sir since my childhood. But when we started working on the biopic, I felt that this cannot be a biopic. It's actually a science fiction film because for one person to live such a life is something I could not understand. How can someone live such a life? It was just yesterday when Sanju sir messaged me and said that you need to come at the trailer launch."
