HAPPY BIRTHDAY

The vibrant social media dynamics of Diljit Dosanjh

diljit-dosanjh Diljit Dosanjh

Diljit Dosanjh, the 'Punjabi munda' who has created a special place for himself in the hearts of fans, turns 34 today. Dosanjh's singing, and his acting career, have fetched him a legion of fans. After delivering a slew of Punjabi blockbuster songs and acting in Punjabi films, the down-to-earth Dosanjh walked right into the heights of Bollywood with Udta Punjab. Rendering a powerful performance opposite Kareena Kapoor, Shahid Kapoor and Alia Bhatt, Dosanjh sealed a space in the industry. His second Bollywood outing—Phillauri—opposite Anushka Sharma was also well-received. Dosanjh's next outing is Soorma, opposite Taapsee Pannu. The film, a biopic of hockey legend Sandeep Singh, will release in June.

What makes Dosanjh all the more adorable is his frankness, and simplicity. A quick look at his social media accounts is proof that he has no airs about himself. Be it replying to his fans in Punjabi and calling them 'veere', or posting vibrant selfies, his Twitter account keeps it warm and informal. Dosanjh, has been in the news quite frequently lately, for his love for Kylie Jenner. From liking, and commenting on Jenner's Instagram posts (that too in Punjabi), to inviting her to star in his music video, Dosanjh has let the world know of his crush. So much so that when rumours of Jenner's pregnancy were doing the rounds last year, his fans were worried how he would take it. To which, he tweeted: “Main theek theek an..''

The other day, it seemed like his love interest has shifted towards Wonder Woman Gal Gadot, and social media went berserk. After all the buzz around Jenner, Dosanjh grabbed eyeballs when he commented on Gadot's picture on Instagram. He said she looked like a Punjabi girl, and also commented that Kylie's angry at him for moving on. Dosanjh surely wears his love on his sleeve! When the media created a hullabaloo, he took it all in good humour and dropped another Punjabi comment on Gadot's picture which said the Indian media is ridiculing him for his comments. Wonder what Gadot's thinking.

The young star is super active on Snapchat, too. From posting songs, to funny videos, to random things like food and his shoes, Dosanjh keeps his followers entertained. He even visited the Snapchat headquarters in the US recently, wearing an angry cat striped sweater. The yellow and purple sweater is a true ode to his quirky fashion style, which too, has many fans.

Keep rocking Diljit Dosanjh, and happy birthday.
