An MCA graduate who created more than 100 channels on the messaging app Telegram to send out child pornography has been arrested from Vandoor in Malappuram district in Kerala.
Kodakkadan Sharaf Ali had been broadcasting the offensive clips to about a lakh people every day, the
police have found.
Ali collected the pornographic materials from social media and traded them for new clips on Telegram, an instant messaging system he considered comparatively safer for his operations.
He insisted that the other members of the group post child porn too. He would expel any members who did not reciprocate or who shared anything other than child porn.
The police have seized hundreds of child porn photos and videos sent out by Ali. His phone was also swarming with such material. He was not acting alone, the police suspect.
Ali had even distributed porn content to his classmates in Kozhikode. He was trapped in accordance with a plan devised at Kerala Police’s Technopark-based cyber dome.
Perinthalmanna deputy superintendent of police M.P. Mohanachandran, circle inspectors K.M. Biju and T.S. Binu were involved in his arrest.
Ali has been slapped with various charges under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act and the Information Technology Act. He has been remanded by the Perinthalmanna first class judicial magistrate.
